It’s not very often that See The Good creates a two-part post. But Amy Temple’s Sunday Post struck a chord in me, and one that I would like to share. Thank you, Amy, for your thought-provoking wisdom!
Amy’s most poignant message to me was that “faith is the key.” And I am in complete agreement with her. But her statement pushed me to continue to ponder the gravity of these four simple words. And maybe to understand just a little bit more about what they truly mean.
While faith is the key for all of us, our faith is as unique and original as each of us. Faith resides in our hearts, which is the most genuine expression of who we are deep down to our core. So it only makes sense that each of us will have our own faith that provides the strength, comfort, and guidance to fulfill our particular needs. And in some cases, that faith will change to accommodate new challenged and trials in our lives. But it is ours alone, and not to be judged by others.
We can live our faith and demonstrate the benefits and rewards of our faith. But we cannot force it on others or expect our personal faith to provide the answers that someone else needs. I was once told by a dear and wise aunt that she had a very personal relationship with the man upstairs. And that it was ok for me to enjoy that same personal relationship with him. The relationships that we shared meant no less than the ones shared by those who visited church regularly or shared the details of their faith more openly than we chose to do.
Your faith is a very personal treasure and one that was created just for you and him to share. Never worry that you or it is not enough. You are enough just the way you are, and your faith is equally perfect for your relationship with the man upstairs. He hears you, he sees you, and he protects you. And he hopes that you will be a shining example to others when it comes time to be respectful and loving towards others and their unique faith.
We are all on a journey that we hope will end at the same place. But each of us must find our own way and faith along that journey. Embrace the faith that warms your heart and soul while appreciating the faith that offers others the same comfort.
Beautifully expressed, Kathy, and an insightful and inspiring expansion of Amy’s post yesterday.
