Life is too short to allow others to waste the precious hours and days of your journey. You are here to illuminate the world through the hearts of others and share your wisdom. In no way does that mean that you should be asked to carry the baggage of someone unwilling to walk their own journey, make their own choices, and live with the consequences. You are not being unkind when you refuse to do this work for someone else. You are actually being a good friend and role model.
Part of the journey’s purpose is learning to find your inner strength and build the life you deserve. Never believe someone who becomes disrespectful or angry when you refuse to be their crutch in life. We must all learn to stand on our own two feet. You are merely sharing the tough love that no one has ever cared enough to offer them in the past.
Another excellent post! To me, this encapsulates my dilemma when I am struggling between wanting to be helpful and supportive, caring and kind, and then not knowing where and when to stop feeling responsible for someone else’s happiness. I call these posts that seem to have been written just for me, Kathy’s Keepers!!!!!
