We all face challenges, moments when we question ourselves, our beliefs and even those whom we hold most dear but that is all part of our journey. And all of those events allow us to see life from a variety of different angles. During the difficult times, it feels like we can’t even look up far enough to see the light, but we always seem to find a way to fight back up to it because deep down, we believe it is there. Then we begin again on our journey upward. But this time, we have just a tiny bit more of an appreciation for the average, just so, day. We know that it could be worse and we are thankful that it is not.
Sometimes it requires a huge undertaking to get to the top. You climb, you struggle, and you focus, but life still keeps knocking you down into the darkness. But each time that you ascend back into the light, you are a little bit stronger, a little bit more appreciative and a little bit more compassionate. All of these gifts from the darkness will help you to achieve your goal and to reach the pinnacle that is your dream. And once you arrive at that hollowed point, the view is breathtaking. Not only are you filled with a sense of accomplishment but you also have a completely new perspective on everything around you. Not simply because of the place that you are standing, but also because of the lessons you learned while getting there. It’s not always the view that you expected to see but it is what you are meant to see!
Each climb has a purpose and the lessons that you learn along the way are the tools that you will need to make most of your effort and hard work once you reach your goal. You might not find your dream awaiting you at the end of your climb, but it is equally as rewarding to find yourself in a place which allows you to offer assistance to others as they reach their dreams.
Beautiful as always! I’m on a new journey right now and I see just what you mean. There are moments that I do not feel adequate, but others on the same journey are reaching out along their way to their dreams. They help me to realize that every little step I am taking is where they have been. Success is right around the corner for me also. It won’t be the same success as theirs, but success none-the-less. God bless you and your writings. You are joy and light. ❤
Theresa-We all have doubts about ourselves from time to time and that is when we need to reach out to our friends and connections for reassurance. I really believe that humans are not meant to be solitary creatures and yet our society has become much more isolating for those who are not a part of the cookie cutter mentality. Fortunately, there are many good folks out there who will remind you of your value and assure you that your victories, successes, and dreams are all important. And that they should be celebrated regardless of the size or magnitude. They are your achievements and many of us out here are cheering for you and ready and willing to reach out a hand whenever you need it, knowing that you would do the same for us any time we are in need. Thank you for being one of the very special people who have joined me for this part of my journey!
Kathy, I’m printing this out to keep close by when I need this timeless wisdom you’ve shared with us here. We never reach the top of the mountain (nor, I feel, are we meant to) even though we get close sometimes. Our journey never ends, but transitions from separation to unity, unique as snowflakes, common as grass. And that’s the whole point I’m beginning to think. Keeping on keeping on is what we are here to do, and thank goodness for you to express it all in ways we can understand and bring home to ourselves. What I notice about your writing is that it’s more like an invitation to pause and reflect on our own lives. You share a part of your life to make it real and human, as we all are. But then you wrap it all up in a few sentences that invite us to take this golden thread of creation and weave it into our own stories, our own lives going forward. Makes me think of a phrase I used when I was a free-lance writer: “The power of words is in the message they convey.” Your messages, Kathy, based on your own human experience, are powerful!
Thank you, Pam and everyone for your kind words…I am so very touched and humbled. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have met such a wonderful group of supportive and inspiring people! I have always enjoyed writing but thanks to all of you, I feel that my writing now has a purpose- thank you!
Yes being focused is the key
Thanks for the insight.
An awesome piece of content
You are speaking truth, Kathy. I have been there, in a deep pit. I would climb up near the surface when something would happen and down I would tumble again to the bottom. It took several years to finally get the victory, but oh, the joy of that victory! I have written a book about that experience including the poetry the Lord gave me as I traveled through it. I’m hoping to get it published soon. It’s almost ready, and I do hope I will be able to help others through their struggles, or to help prepare others for struggles they have not moved into yet. God bless you. Keep on writing and blessing others. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much, Diane! I can’t wait to read your book. I am sure that many others will find comfort and encouragement in your work as the kindness of your heart always shine through in your messages.
A very inspiring essay about life in general. Very well-written.
Thank you, Amy! It means a great deal coming from a fellow writer with your skill at storytelling.
