Every Gift Should Be Treasured

Everyone has important thoughts and ideas to share with the world. Each of us has a purpose on this earth, a part to play in the future, a contribution to make or a critical piece to add into the mix. No one has the ability to grasp all that is meant to occur or that needs to occur nor is any one person in a place that affords the perspective required to pass judgment on another person or his or her contribution. We must each simply make our contribution to the best of our ability when we discover our gift which is meant to share with the world.

Some of us might even feel as though we have failed to contribute or that our meager addition is not needed. But again, we are not in a position to know that or to judge even our own value to the overall scope of the world. No one knows who will discover the cure for cancer. Any child in the world today or, who is yet to be born, could be that gifted scientist or dedicated doctor who figures out how to beat cancer. And any person on earth could be the one who utters a kind word to another lost soul who is contemplating ending his or her own life or the taking of a life. You might change the entire world with your thoughts, words or actions or you might just change another person’s world. Both are equally important. You never know what that person is meant to contribute in the future.

  1. Kathy, every day as i read your posts, I am awed by your gift of being able to express simple Truth so profoundly. I am confident anyone who can read basic English can understand the message you are articulating in words. I’m as confident that when your postings are translated into other languages, others around the world will be able to understand what you are so eloquently expressing. Reading this today compiles me to share with you Joseph Pulitzer’s quote I have framed here at my desk:

    Put it before them briefly
    so they will read it,
clearly so they will appreciate it,
picturesquely so they will remember it,
    and, above all, accurately
so they will be guided by its light.

    1. Thank you Pam! Your kind words of encouragement keep the fire burning within me to continue to write and encourage others to do the same. Have a wonderful day my friend!

  2. Thank YOU, my friend, and now I see as I re-read what I sent earlier in haste, i wrote ‘compiles’ me rather than my intentional ‘compels’. This is why two sets of eyes is always better than one, and why more perspectives on the same Truth are so valuable, so we can see things in a their integrated glory rather than just from our own point of view. This is what you invite readers to do for themselves and hopeful to inspire them (and me) to put pen to paper with our own thoughts, feelings and emotions, thoughtfully, slowly and reflectively rather than reactively. Re-reading before pushing the ‘send’ button, as also a good idea. You have a wonderful day yourself!
