Opportunity Cost

Everything in life is a balancing act. In most cases, we try to balance or justify the opportunity cost of something with the benefits that it will bring. But to do this, we need to be completely honest with ourselves about what brings us true happiness. Often, we discover that the item we thought we desired is not really as valuable as the time we must give up to get the item. Choose carefully, because the time that you decide to give up for an item is gone forever…

Smiles are free, but are they?
    There is always a cost
Of which we will gladly pay,
For a moment of not being lost
In the endless chase for balanced cost

The cost of having a new baby
Equals the joy of a new smile

Cost for soccer clothes or ballet shoes
    Equals the pride of performance

The cost of a new talking device and car,
Equals pleasure of being a soccer mom’s taxi

Cost of your children’s college room and board
Gives us excitement for the their future

Cost of their wedding reception and gowns
Wishing a lifetime of happiness for them and freedom for you

Cost of having a new grand baby
    Balanced cost of internal joy
