Have you ever looked into the eyes of a child and seen so much potential and excitement for life that it just made you smile?
Did you think to yourself, that this child is going to do something amazing with his or her life, even if she doesn’t know it yet?
Do you see that same look in your own eyes when you look in the mirror each morning? If you answered yes then that is awesome and the rest of this is stuff that you already know and live by. But for the rest of us who only wish we saw that zest for life and determination to achieve greatness, I have just one more question.
Why do you think that you lost that look?
My answer was more of an excuse than a true answer. I blamed the adult world for wearing me down and forcing me to give up on my hopes and dreams. I took the “this is my lot in life” approach because it was far easier than admitting to myself that I gave up on me!
No one can take my dreams unless I allow them to have that power over me. And why would I ever give someone that power when I know that only I can make my dreams a reality? The answer, because I got lazy.
So my challenge today is for everyone, including myself, who
Spend just five minutes each day thinking about your dreams and how you can get just a tiny step closer to achieving them. And then invest another five minutes at some point in the day thinking about all of the amazing things in your life, your achievements, and all that you have to be thankful for.
Those ten minutes each day of appreciation and determination will change the way that you look at the entire world, including your dreams and your ability to make them your new reality.
Simply remind yourself to See The Good in the world and in yourself, like you did when you were that wide-eyed child.
Great post! Advice that we all should take.
Many people give up on their dreams when life seems to get in the way. I wrote a book about that and how you can unearth your dream and start fresh with it. I haven’t published it yet and don’t know if I ever will as it is a full color book. But it was fun and informative writing it. People need that kind of encouragement to start over and once again believe in the dream. I think those who never loose their dream are more scarce than those who lose it somewhere along the way. And it takes courage and tenacity to pick it up again. But I believe it is worth it. I had almost lost hope of having any of my books published, but now I have two and another that will be published in the next month or two. So the dream is alive.
Daine- Thank you for having the courage to hold on to your dream of publishing and sharing your wisdom with the world. I find that it is the voice of the person who has worked long and hard, while also remaining patient for their turn to be heard who offer the most valuable, uplifting and meaningful thoughts to help each of us grow and succeed.
I love, love, love this post and everyone’s comments!!!!! Don’t give up on your dreams, ever, no way, no how, as long as you’re listening to your heart and mind together, your Higher Self, that Still, Small, Strong voice within. You WILL live your dreams and achieve all the goals you came here to achieve. Thank you, Kathy, for awakening this truth in all of us as we move forward to achieve our own unique dreams that will enrich our world for everyone!!!!
