Time

Time is one of the most amazing things that we will never see, never touch, never control and do not appreciate until we discover that it is slipping away from us. Time is a concept that has occupied the minds of people forever, from our greatest minds right down to the children who continue to ask, “Are we there yet?”

Man has been creating ways to measure time since long before we had units of measure. A stick or a stone was used to cast a shadow on a sundial as early as 293 BC. And even after all of this time has passed, we are still obsessed with measuring time as if we can somehow use that information to better manage the time that we have.

But sadly, no watch or clock holds the answer to slowing down time, gaining more time or becoming a better steward of the time that we are granted. That function comes solely from the heart. Each of us knows what we love, what we cherish and how we wish to spend this most limited commodity that is our time on this earth. And it is your heart that will tell you how to spend your time to achieve the most joy and happiness from that which you are granted.

  1. Kathy, you certainly know how to say a lot in just 216 words! These posts of yours, including those from guest authors, would make a wonderful collection of positive and timeless messages for every day of every year. With so many e-mails, texts, phone messages, and media messages coming at us at breakneck speed every day, what a relief to read something that takes two minutes of our time, yet lingers in our thoughts and reflections all day long, and longer. Just a thought . . . xxxxoooo

    1. Thank you, Pam, for your positivity and encouragement! As always your uplifting comment arrived at just the right time to help me See The Good and turn away from a negative thought. I love the idea of creating something that one can touch and revisit as I often do with my favorite books. I will keep you posted…
