Discover Today’s Gift

Each new day is a gift. If you are having trouble finding the motivation to begin your day, think of the enthusiasm that you see in a child who is opening a gift and apply it to your day. The child tears off the wrapping paper and rips open the box, so throw off the sheet and jump out of bed. Next, a hand eagerly explores what is in the box, so apply that same eagerness to exploring the potential of your new day. And finally, even the smallest trinket brings excitement and happiness to a child. Let yourself find that same childlike happiness in the tiny successes and accomplishments that you discover in each day.

  1. Love this, Kathy, for it makes me think about when humans began wrapping gifts in colorful paper and ribbons. Was the intention behind gift-giving and wrapping to build surprise and anticipation of the unknown, something special someone is giving another to make them feel honored, happy, validated, important? So thank you for inspiring me to think about this whole process, promise, creativity and intention of gift giving— fun to think about on this beautiful late spring morning as I know you’re having fun in N.M.!

  2. “Let yourself find that same childlike happiness in the tiny successes and accomplishments that you discover in each day.” I love that. It is so simple yet anyone can do it and get wonderful results. I’m hoping my comment will be accepted this time. I keep changing it. It’s my 6th effort and each time I am a suspected bot. Makes me feel a little like some kind of criminal! 🙂 Well, here goes. I’m going to click the button. Again.

  3. I agree, the curiosity of children, if we could get that back as adults, it will prevent us from ever giving up.
