Each new day is a gift. If you are having trouble finding the motivation to begin your day, think of the enthusiasm that you see in a child who is opening a gift and apply it to your day. The child tears off the wrapping paper and rips open the box, so throw off the sheet and jump out of bed. Next, a hand eagerly explores what is in the box, so apply that same eagerness to exploring the potential of your new day. And finally, even the smallest trinket brings excitement and happiness to a child. Let yourself find that same childlike happiness in the tiny successes and accomplishments that you discover in each day.
Love this, Kathy, for it makes me think about when humans began wrapping gifts in colorful paper and ribbons. Was the intention behind gift-giving and wrapping to build surprise and anticipation of the unknown, something special someone is giving another to make them feel honored, happy, validated, important?
