It’s Not About Where You Started, It’s About Where You Are Now!

If you are having a bad day, week or even year, remember that it is not your starting point that matters, rather it is where you end up. And by having a more challenging starting point, you are being given more opportunities to succeed.

Someone whose life has always been perfect will look back and never really see any hard-earned accomplishments or victories in his or her past. They will not grasp the glorious feeling of finally reaching a goal or working to build that better life that was always just a faraway dream. They will look back and only see a long line of boring and bland days.

But you will glance back and see pivotal choices, turning points, and victories that made you the successful and happy person that you have become. You will look in the mirror and see a person who is living a life that was earned and built with your own effort and desire to succeed. Never begrudge your starting point, simply see it as a launching pad!

  1. This is so, so true! I’ve been reading more lately about how if we shift our perspectives on whatever “trouble” we believe we are facing from fearful discouragement to positive possibilities we will see the ‘negative’ turn into a ‘positive’. What was initially a barrier became the impetus to get us on our feet and moving forward. Writer James A. Michener, Pulitzer Prize winner and recipient of the U.S. Medal of Freedom had such a life. This is why life stories are so inspiring. When we read about others who have overcome great obstacles, we feel empowered to do the same. I love this quote by Soren Kierkegaard, “We live our lives forward but understand them backward.”

  2. Lllloooovvvveeeellllyyyy. I agree. Not many of us get the start we want in life. So I say when you reach your destination, and if you love where you are, and who you have become, don’t curse the route that took you there. Life might put you back where you started.
