Today is the 5th of July, and for all readers in the United States, it is the day after Independence Day. But for every reader everywhere, today can be the first day of your independence from whatever you choose to leave behind, such as self-doubt. And it might be that you are not leaving something behind, but instead, you are choosing to believe in something that you have been told is not possible. Maybe you are finally going to follow your dream to become a painter, singer, or writer and today can be the first day on that journey. All you need to do is decide to believe in yourself and your dream. And though you might not become famous and wealthy as a result of following your dream, you will have something more valuable. You will have the satisfaction of knowing that you made your dream come true. In most cases, that is all that really matters and what brings the most happiness and joy to our lives.
I would also like to take a moment to thank Sue Pulvirentis for her book Massai, and the reminder that we can make our dreams come true at any point in our lives. In some cases, it is through our own hard work, but in other cases, it is a combination of our dedication to our dream and the work of our amazing friends who help us bring our dream to life. Without these dreams, the world never would have met Massai, and that would have been a true tragedy. Rest In Peace Sue, and know that you and Massai will never be forgotten!
Another important and timely reminder. Many thanks, as always, Kathy, for helping me stay focused on fulfilling my own goals and dreams. xxxooo
You are so right, Kathy. I have actually written a book about how to reawaken your dreams when they have been abandoned. It’s not a published book but maybe some day. It’s full color, and I will have to completely redo it as it did not transfer well to my new computer, so it would entail a lot of work. Fortunately I had one copy printed and spiral bound at a local printer. My dream was to become a published author, and it has happened! If it can happen for me, it can happen for anyone.
Lovely, but like success, fulfilling our dreams have nothing to do with age. Time, yes. But it has more to do with ambition, perseverance, determination, a strong will, find a way, why, how, when, hunger, pain and our ability to stay the course and never give up.
