The thought for today is thanks to the amazing Amy Temple who is the writer of every Sunday Post on See The Good, a great lady and someone I have nothing but respect for. Thank you, Amy, for bringing up a good point in one of your recent articles…
Most of us are willing to offer help to someone we see and believe needs our help, and that is just the right thing to do. But sadly, it is becoming more common for pushy people to “offer” help because they want to control the situation. That is not only not being helpful, but it is disrespectful and even hurtful to the person you are trying to coyly control.
My thought for today is that help is only a good thing when it is needed and wanted by the person that you are offering it to. And the key word here is offering not forcing it upon. Doing a good deed should not be about making yourself feel good or controlling another person. A true good deed comes from your heart and is not carried out in an effort to get anything for yourself. So by all means, please go out and practice as many random acts of kindness as you can, and offer help to those who you think might benefit from it, but also, be respectful when anyone declines your offer for help.
