Time Is Ever-Changing

Time is a concept that most children struggle to grasp. Waiting for a birthday can seem like forever, as does a long ride in the car to get to the beach. As we grow up a bit, we begin to grasp the concept of days, week, and years. But we still want time to go faster. After all, adults get to have all of the fun. And we just can’t wait to become one.

Then suddenly, we are adults and are forced to grasp the many responsibilities that go along with being all grown up. Now we yearn for the days of our childhood that were filled with what we now know was true freedom. Family, work, and various commitments fill what feels like every moment of every day.

Then we blink again and realize that we time is slipping away. We have more days behind us than we do in front of us. If only there was a way to slow down the hands of time and save what precious little we have left.

Time is such a fickle friend, or is it fiend? One day it moves too quickly and the next too slowly. It can be our greatest nemesis or our greatest treasure. But the only pure truth that time tells us is that our time here is finite. And the big secret is that we never know when the sand in the hourglass will just disappear.

So the only way to make peace with this companion is to live each moment and each day to the fullest. Carry no anger, no regret, or no unsaid words of kindness. Close your eyes each night, knowing that you have used your time as wisely as possible.

  2. Great advice, Kathy. I can most definitely relate to this story. Many times I have wished I could go back to being a kid!

There is a reason for everything, and life will give us a reason, and that’s wonderful. But don’t wait for life to give you a reason, most end up not liking the reason life gives.
