Slow It Down…Guest Post By AMY TEMPLE

Slow it down.   You have heard it said before. But it’s true.

There is absolutely nothing in this world that needs to be done in such a rush.

I have learned this the hard way. These past few weeks I have been writing more regularly and I have found myself staying up later to write and wind down catching up on DVR programming.   I go to bed and I am just laying there.  I keep telling myself that I have got to set up a stopping point but of course I don’t do it.

It all caught up to me a few days ago. Usual routine.   Didn’t get up until about 1 pm!   I thanked God for the extra sleep but I realized that I can’t continue to do this.

None of what I have been doing is that important!  It can all wait!

So folks… don’t do what I have been doing. Don’t!

Allow yourself a chance to rest and relax!

– I have decided not to go past 6 on my phone!  I am putting it down!  Not messing with it unless I absolutely have to!

– I am not working on the weekends!  I will turn on my phone but that is it!

– At night I am giving myself a cut off time for DVR programming.  I intend to read to wind down before going to bed!  A night or two a week I do work on my laptop.  I am giving myself a two hour window.

When the time is up, any work will be saved and I am shutting my computer down!

I no longer am going to be an almost workaholic nor glued to my phone!

I am going to start enjoying life more and let go.

I’m going to work hard but learn to live harder.

  1. Thank you Amy! This is sure an important and timely message! I took your advice and enjoyed an entire day away from the computer, which does not happen very often. But it was very much enjoyed. There have been many great reports on research regarding the use of electronic devices before bed and the fact that the blue light that they emit really creates issues for your body and the normal sleep cycle. Thank you again for the great message!
