
There is nothing about life that is stationary or static. Our heart is always beating to move blood through our body, we are always breathing in air, and electrical impulses are running through our brain. The only time that anyone is truly not moving at all is when he or she dies. Life is all about movement.
But what we as humans tend to get hung up on is the act of moving forward. Almost everyone thinks of progress as moving forward when, in fact, progress can refer to growth, evolution, or simply movement. As long as you keep moving, you are alive and learning. You might not feel that your progress has been in the direction that you wanted, but never underestimate the value of a step in any direction. Each step holds lessons, knowledge, and experiences that you might not have discovered if your course had not veered in that direction.
My grandmother has a simple delightful saying, “If you rest you rust!” She was not rich by any means and could barely read nor write. Her claim to ‘progress’ was not to have idle hands, for they are the devil’s workshop. I miss her…
