There are many times in life when you will question yourself or a choice that you have made. But on the hopefully rare occasion when a loved one turns his or her back on you and walks away, never give up on yourself, your ability to love again, or your worthiness to accept someone else’s love.
No one is perfect. And we must offer our love knowing that and accepting that fact about anyone whom we love. In return, that person must also recognize us as imperfect. True love sees imperfections as facets rather than flaws. True love chooses to protect a person’s weakness rather than exploit it. True love rises to compensate for another person’s weakness, knowing that he or she will reciprocate.
When you have opened your heart, given your trust and loyalty, and then been hurt, understand that you did not fail. The only way that you can fail is to never trust your heart again. Your heart might feel shattered, but it is incredibly resilient. Given time to heal, you will find that love can and will come to you in its purest and most treasured form.
True love can also see the many disguises of deception and hatred.
