All too often, we are driven by our desire to acquire “things.” This can be due to the perceived status the items represent or a need to feel rewarded for our hard work. However, in the end, these things become more of a hindrance than a reward or source of pleasure. Expensive items require more work to buy and often more work to care for and maintain.
So if you feel the need or desire to be a collector, don’t focus on flashy baubles or expensive status symbols. Collect life experiences. Travel to new places, try exotic foods and activities, and create lifelong memories with those you love. This collection will never sap your time with maintenance, require you to work longer hours or add unneeded stress to your already hectic day. All of these life experiences will enrich your journey and remain with you in your heart for a lifetime.
Great advice, Kathy. I do like to collect unusual stones, but that doesn’t take extra time or money as I find them while walking in nature–collecting the stones along with the experiences. It’s fun, too.
