It is easy to get caught up in the gadgets, tools, toys, and materialism of our everyday lives. We have ads streaming on the side of our computer screens, on our phones, and even on wearable technology that is meant to help us stay active and healthy. We are constantly searching for big wins, massive achievements, and tips or tricks to get rich, thin, or look younger instantly.
But what we really need to do is take just a few moments to recognize the beauty, marvel, and opportunity that is right in front of us in our everyday lives.
Something as simple as watching the sunset with someone whom you know loves you. That experience would be called a miracle by over 153 million orphans around the world.
Or the 45 minutes that you invest in sharing an evening meal with those you care about. That would be a dream come true for almost 800 million people around the world who don’t have enough to eat each day.
Finally, as you lay your head down tonight in your bedroom, be thankful for your home and all that it means for you and your loved ones. There are over 1.6 billion people in the world who are homeless and would be happy to trade places with you if given the opportunity.
Appreciate all that is right before your eyes!
Lovely post. I agree. We have so much to give thanks for, all of us! The happy memories and moments push us forward, the sad ones don’t. But if we can find a way to keep our happy moments alive, it will keep us up and moving forward.
Yes, indeed, lovely post that reminds all of us who have so much to do what we can in our own neighborhoods, towns and cities to somehow correct such imbalance. If it is to be, it’s up to me . . . and you, and you and you . . . and all of us working together!
