Life is not a solitary path. There are a great many people who have had a profound impact on our lives and helped us to achieve our hopes, dreams, and goals. There are even more people who have touched our lives for only a moment. But in that single moment, the person changed the trajectory of where we were headed and what we accomplished on our journey. And he or she might not even know the impact they had on your life.
With the holidays just around the corner, we are sending festive greeting cards, buying gifts and planning events for all of the people who are important to us. But often, we forget those brief connections that taught us a valuable lesson, opened our eyes to an essential fact of life, or just inspired us to make it through a very dark and challenging day. This holiday season is the perfect time to thank someone who made a difference in your life. But who might not even know how much you appreciated their help or input. A quick note in a card, a phone call, or an email is sure to brighten that person’s day. And remind him or her that they are making a difference in the world.
We all have a great deal to be thankful for, and it never hurts to take a few moments and thank the people who have helped, even if it was just for a brief second or two. You might be returning the favor by providing a glimmer of hope on their dark and challenging day. Or you could be motivating them to inspire another person in need. It’s a great way to pay it back and forward all at the same time.
I love this because it’s so true. One simple act of kindness can change someone’s day or even save someone’s life. Beautifully expressed here, too, and a powerful reminder for how to make the day ahead a great day for yourself and for others you either know well or strangers you meet just once.
