What I Have Learned From See The Good

As 2019 comes to a close, I want to say thank you to everyone who has supported the website and by extension, me over the first full year of its “life.” I must admit that this project has been more challenging at times than I ever expected. But the rewards have been far beyond my wildest dreams. Only with the help and collaboration of many wonderful people have we made it through infancy.

-Completing daily post didn’t sound like a big commitment when I hatched this idea, but I have discovered that there is a great deal of “care and feeding” required to get that post out each day. It has been much like having a puppy that you can’t board or leave with friends when you are traveling. But this pet project of mine has taught me many lessons that I am grateful to have learned.

-You learn very quickly who your true friends when you need something. These are the fantastic people who have offered their work to See The Good free of charge. They simply want to use their gifts to inspire others.

-You learn that in some cases that you might never meet some of your best friends face to face. But that does not really matter. These friends are there for you with the same, love, compassion, and loyalty as the ones that you see every day or every week. I learned this lesson very early in the life of See The Good when I was fortunate enough to “meet” Pam. And over this past year, she has taught me that true friendship is not bound by time, distance or age because it comes from the heart and speaks a universal language.

-Sometimes the universe has a beautiful surprise in store for you if you are willing to look for it. When I was searching for guest posts, I was very fortunate to discover Amy Temple. She was kind enough to offer to provide posts regularly, and now Sunday belongs to Amy. I can’t thank her enough for taking on this responsibility and never, ever missing a week! Her dedication is second only to her gift for words. I can’t believe that I was fortunate enough to “meet” Amy watch her work towards her dream and accomplish it in such a short time. Her talent as a writer, the kindness in her heart, and her never-quit spirit continue to inspire everyone who reads her work. So don’t miss her posts every Sunday!

I continue to be amazed by the outpouring of kindness from strangers who read my posts and the guest posts. Each one of your comments inspires me to keep writing and posting on See The Good. You are all constant reminders that there is so much good in this world if we only choose to look for it and embrace it.

These are just a few of the many ways readers, friends, and collaborators from around the world have helped me to See The Good each day. I can’t thank you all enough for sharing a few moments of your day with me. Happy Holidays and all the best to everyone in 2020!

  1. Reading your post this morning, Kathy, makes me ever mindful of the miracles of wifi and computers, those who “invented them” and created them in the material form, and those who patiently taught me how to use these new and amazing tools of communication that were unheard of even 30 years ago. To sit here in the early morning with my cup of coffee, my candle lit, nursing the worse backache I’ve ever had, hoping I can do all the things I want to do this holiday season and worrying that I won’t be able to, but still, holding out hope that I will, I am struck with the importance of relationships that you describe here so beautifully that are the basis of our true happiness. So, feeling so connected with you and Amy and all the others who have contributed to the growing success of your website gives me great joy, and feelings of gratitude even though, as you say, we have never met face to face. None of us is ever “alone” although at times we may feel that way, which is part of the human condition. We have however, thanks to your commitment to See the Good, met heart-to-heart, along with all the others who are now your fans and friends as I am so happy to be as well.

    1. Dear Pam- You are so right that we live in an amazing time. Yet one that we must carefully manage. All of our electronics and soft communication can serve to tether us to the entire world, or it can be woven into a blanket that surrounds us and isolates us from real human connection. Those who understand this and choose to benefit from these technological advances by adding them to a life full of personal contact with others will flourish.

I close my eyes and can conger up a mental image of a brick and mortar See The Good, a sort of relaxing and inviting coffee shop where we all gather to share thoughts, concerns, and feelings with one another. There is always a roaring fire for an added cozy feeling. And that works even in the warmer months because we can create our virtual world in any way that we choose. The window that I choose to look out reveals a magnificent beach with gentle waves lapping onto the soft, warm sand. But each person can create their own perfect view to enjoy.

I thank each and every person who visits our little creation and I welcome them to join the conversations and get to know the other folks who stop by. Though this is a virtual place, it is filled with truly remarkable and very real people who are some of the finest that I have ever had the pleasure to call my friends! Thank you Pam for all that you have added to the architecture of our community!

  2. Bbbeeeaaauuutttiiifffuuulllyyy. Again. Thank you too for giving me and others the opportunity to really see the good in our world and finding it too. Looking forward to a more powerful, positive and productive 2020 filled with more GOOD. When we say good things our voices will never be silent, even if you are no longer around. We will be heard!
