Share A Special Gift This Holiday Season

As adults, we feel an obligation to do all that we can to create the perfect holiday for our children, family, and friends. But that often means endless tasks and errands, not to mention quite a hefty financial commitment. And only on a rare occasion does the holiday live up to your hopes and expectations.

So take just a few minutes to yourself, grab a cup of something that you enjoy and relax. Then think back to what made your childhood holiday perfect. Was it seeing certain family members, a family caroling tradition, or watching a favorite holiday movie? Each year, I looked forward to the tiny tangerine that was ALWAYS in the toe of my stocking. Outside it was cold, and the ground was covered with snow, but Mom found these tiny orange globes of happiness every year. It always made me smile and feel loved, and the memory of it still does to this day.

My point is this, step back from the hustle and bustle of your current holiday and reconnect with what made your childhood holidays special. Find that inner child who could look at the world with wonder and excitement and not worry about a to-do list. Then focus on sharing that happiness with those you love this holiday season. Focus on creating memories, smiles, and a renewed bond with each person who makes your life special and meaningful. Sometimes a handwritten note in a holiday card and an hour shared over coffee really is the perfect gift.

  1. Christmas has a different meaning for many of us, but the one thing we all share is the memories we get at this time of the year. And we all collect them and keep them in our heads and hearts. Some of us keep them as souvenirs, both the happy and the sad ones. Either way, Christmas will always have a special meaning for all of us. I agree, step back from the hustle and bustle and reconnect with your best meaning of Christmas. A time when Christmas meant more than giving expensive gifts. A time of love and giving from the heart and not from the pocket. A time when humanity comes out in all of us and stays for the whole year.
