Not having goals is a much more dangerous failure than not reaching all of the goals that you have set for yourself. When you don’t have goals, you cannot measure your progress and see the reward for your effort. However, when you have not reached your goals, you feel motivated and inspired to work harder and achieve more.
Keep setting goals and striving to make progress…reaching each goal is just icing on the cake.
Yes, indeed! Achieving goals is a time for celebration but as many wise elders have said throughout the centuries, life is the journey and not the destination. The journey is life. The destination is the beginning of yet another journey forward, and of course, there’s, “Shoot for the moon, even if you miss you land among the stars!”
Not having goals is like living in a house with no doors or windows. Goals give up hope and teach us vital life and survival lessons. We meet new people, learn new things, find new ways to do old things, develop friendships and relationships that last for years. Learn more about ourselves, our weakness and our strength. There is so much to learn during the process of achieving our goals, that even if we fail, the lessons learned will stay with us forever, and sometimes improve our lives. Those lessons also restrengthens and motivate us to try again. Then we win.
