What Are You Looking For?

Most people will agree that when we are looking for an item, say your car keys, you are focused on that one item. You can search the couch and find the TV remote and loose change, but you quickly toss them aside and continue your search for your keys. And once you find them, obviously, you stop looking.

So let’s apply that same process to something broader, your outlook on life. What are you looking for? Are you searching for possibilities, options, and success? Or do you only hope for those good outcomes, but deep in your heart, you really expect to find disappointment and problems? Because if you really believe that you will only discover problems and trouble, you will quickly discard all of the potentially good things you find during your search. Just like you did the loose change in the couch. And you will keep searching unit you turn your expectation into your reality.

In short, as humans, we pretty much always find what we are looking for. We don’t give up easily. Instead, we keep searching until we have what we believe we are looking for. So choose to look for happiness, satisfaction, and good opportunities in your life. You will find them scattered among all of the other things that are waiting for you on your journey. BUT the challenges and bad things will not be where you choose to stop your search.

  1. Lovely post. I agree, but sometimes we have to find the bad things before we can find the good ones. Just don’t stop searching if you keep finding the bad things first. Life will test us in many ways.
