Relearning Resiliency

As children, we are blessed with an amazing sense of resiliency. We fall down many times before we ever learn to take a step. But we never give up. We practice for weeks before we learn to control a crayon enough to scroll our first autograph. But we keep working on the task and refining our skills. And we struggle with many lessons before we come racing home from school to proudly display an assignment with a happy face or a star at the top.

But each time we faced a difficult challenge, we looked forward to basking in the feeling of accomplishment when we master something new. That resiliency was not something that we learned, we just did it. But sadly, it is a life skill that many of us lose as we move into adulthood. We come to expect instant success and become extremely frustrated when we need to practice or work to master something challenging.

Life is not always easy. And it is often the most difficult challenge that provides the greatest reward and sense of accomplishment. Embrace your inner child. Put in the work that is needed to earn the right to revel in your success.
