Sometimes we forget that life is about the simplest things. Today I was reminded of this when I visited my son’s new home. He was finally settled in, had gotten some boxes emptied, and had art on the walls. These were his first steps in turning an empty, blank apartment into his home. The place that he will relax, feel safe, and begin to build a new life. And as a mom, nothing could have made me happier.
We spend our lives working to achieve many things from our career to financial freedom or a certain level of personal success. And while these are all important to varying degrees, we often focus only on the significant events or milestones, thinking that these are what will bring us satisfaction, happiness, and fulfillment. But never underestimate the power of simple things to make you happy.
These very basic forms of happiness don’t depend on a certain income or level of success in your job. They are not tied to a huge home or an expensive vehicle, and you can’t go buy them at the store. But when you rediscover them, you know that their reward is far more valuable.
Oh, another Keeper from Kathy! This is so beautiful and reflects my feelings about Home and Belongings that all have stories of their own that carry with them an energy that feeds the soul. Taking care of our home and our material belongings is not unlike taking care of our bodies and our spiritual selves, as well. Your son’s new home sounds so healing and happy and comforting, a place of rest, restoration and renewal, a new chapter in his young and exciting life. xxxooo
