Finding Your Best Friend

When you are looking for a best friend, all you need to do is look in a mirror. Until you can feel good about who you are, be comfortable just spending time on your own, and know that you can always count on yourself to get by, you are not ready to be a best friend. And if you can’t offer that to another, then you are not likely to receive it either.

Once you discover the really great person and friend that you can be, you are ready to seek those same important and special qualities in another person. And, you are ready to share the gift of YOU with others.

  1. I totally agree. Taking the time to know oneself, is a gift you can give to yourself and others. Knowing what you can give and to whom you give is power. Use if for good only.

  2. My mother would love this post, Kathy, because she always told me to be my own best friend, which seemed to go against how girls were raised back in the 40s and 50s, when even liking yourself was considered “selfish.” My mother would love you, too, like a lot!!!!!

    1. Pam, you read my mind so well! I thought of your dear mother when I was writing this. You mentioning that quote from her was a huge motivation. Her wise words applied then, now, and will forever. Thank you, Pam and Mother Harmon. I would have loved meeting her as well, but I am ever so thankful to be experiencing the best of her legacy in you, my dear friend!
