Love is buying a gift for that special someone, not on a holiday or occasion, but just because you know it will make her smile.
Love is sharing your last piece of lasagna with her.
Love is trying to share every dream and bucket list item with that special person when time is the enemy.
Love is staying awake for days watching him labor to breathe because you promised you would be there forever, and he would not be alone when the time came.
Love is saying ‘til death do us part and then living it.
Love is a treasure that will fill your heart with warmth and your life with purpose.
Love is the weight that almost crushes you when it’s time to say good-bye.
But love is also the pillar that you can lean on as you find your way alone in this world.
As we all reflect on the world around us, we need to understand that this, too, shall pass.
But even more critical is grasping the fact that each person whom we love will also pass.
So even in challenging times, troubling times, and times of pain and suffering, never forget to say I love you.
Never let stress, anger, or fear stop you from showing your love, sharing your love, and treasuring the love that you share with that special person.
Because tomorrow could be too late.
Today is the anniversary of a blind date that changed two lives. It was actually the end of two lives and the beginning of one shared life. But the days passed far too quickly. And forever, together, turned out to be years not decades. But I know that neither of those two people would have traded the opportunity to share that life together for anything in the world.
So today, one of them has finally found peace, while the other faces the greatest challenge of her life. But rather than give in to the pain of her loss, I know that she will find a way to survive and to thrive, in honor of him and the life that they shared. She is the strongest person I know and one who has a complete understanding of what love is because she has lived it.
On this special day, in honor of this special couple, I ask everyone to take a few minutes and tell that special person in your life how much he or she is loved. Share time, memories, and dreams. And be thankful for the day that you are sharing together. Because, at some point, forever will come to an end.
This is so beautifully written, Kathy. To me, this shows the gift in this COVID-19 crisis we are living through together. It’s making us all the more conscious about what really matters in our lives and that our lives on Earth are temporary. This is why we must live in the present and love without fear, for only the love lasts forever.
