Please Don’t Be Sad – By AMY TEMPLE

Last week my uncle died from a brief battle with cancer.   Although this a poem I recently published, I wish to do so again this week in memory of a very special man who I was blessed to have in my life.  I love and miss you, Uncle Stan.

Please don’t be sad

God’s calling me home

to a bright, beautiful place

 where the sun always shines

and love is free to roam

You know I don’t want to go

I’d rather stay here with you

but my work here is done

There’ll be nothing left for me to do

You may be crying those sad, lonely tears but do know this,

I will be free from the pain

 So rest your fears

I’ll always love you

I’ll take our memories with me

for I’ll never forget how things

used to be

There’s just one thing I ask of you

One job that you must do

Carry on with me in your heart

and never allow us to be apart

This isn’t the end

My love for you

I’ll continue to send

Please don’t be sad

God’s called me home

  1. My condolences to your dear Uncle Stan. Please keep his memory alive by doing some of the things he does, and some of the things you use to do together. Or do one routine a week or month that he used to do. That’s one way of always remembering him. Memories are gifts that keeps on giving.

    1. Thanks so much, Annelise. I really appreciate your comforting words.

      God bless you.

  2. Amy, thank you for this. It’s beautiful and it seems as though your uncle is speaking to you through your pen! I lost my uncle at the beginning of 2020, but his mind was lost ages ago. I feel his presence though and do miss him. I look forward to seeing him again after this journey here in the earth! Thank you my dear. This is beautiful! All my heart! Here for you.
