Someone recently asked me about my goals for 2020. The question was basically if I had met or would reach my goals considering the year’s challenges. After some consideration, my answer was that I would certainly meet the most essential goal, survival.
In challenging times, it can be easy to feel as if we are not making progress. But we need to remember that sometimes goals need to be revisited and revised to meet an unexpected change in conditions or situations. And in a year like 2020, survival is a worthy goal. Sure, you might not have gotten that promotion or substantial raise but being employed and able to pay your bills this year is certainly a victory.
Life is not always about striking out to claw your way forward. Sometimes we need to be satisfied to hold our ground and allow turbulence to fly right past us. Weathering the storm that has been 2020 is a victory. And the lessons that we have learned from it will help prepare us for our future and future successes.
I agree, survival is what most of the people in our world is fighting for. 2020 has not been a good year for millions of people and many have not survived. But for the ones who have, they have learned many life-changing lessons. There are so many lessons to be learned from everything that happened in 2020.
