What does it take to make you smile? Be honest and think of three things that always make you smile. I’m guessing that they were all somewhat common occurrences like a beautiful sunset or a hug from your child.
None of them cost a dime, but to you, they are priceless. Most people would agree that their smile inspiration is also a simple yet personally meaningful thing or event. When you get right down to it, it’s these little things that bring meaning to our lives and joy to our hearts.
So don’t get so caught up in the big picture and big dreams that you forget to enjoy the simple yet priceless moments in your day and your life.
Thank you, Kathy, for this potent post and important reminder. Its wisdom is timeless and could very well be the ultimate path to living a truly wonderful (full of wonder) life. Appreciating the “little things” brings joy and joy is not dependent on circumstances but on our feelings and emotions about what’s happening day to day that shape the choices we make. Henry David Thoreau said it best: “It is something to be able to paint a particular picture, or to carve a statue, and so to make a few objects beautiful; but it is far more glorious to carve and paint the very atmosphere and medium through which we look, which morally we can do. To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts.”
