On occasion, the universe has a gift in store for you that you could never imagine. It comes out of nowhere but changes your life forever. These gifts are meant to be in more ways and for more reasons than you could ever comprehend. And I can’t think of any other word to describe them except a blessing.
A few years ago, I was granted such a gift. I crossed electronic paths with a lady who grew up in the same small town as I, but a few decades before my time. What drew us together was our love for writing. But as we shared conversations via email, we discovered that our similarities ran far deeper than a love for the written word. Each story she shared with me struck a chord in my heart and reminded me of a similar story. We literally spent months sharing stories, thoughts, and random information. Only to discover that we were not connected by a single thread but an entire web of threads that somehow managed to finally pull us together into this unlikely friendship.
As the years have passed, she has become one of my dearest and most cherished friends. Her words of wisdom, kind heart, and deep desire to help others continue to inspire me to strive to be the best person I can become. She has taught through her own actions to be concerned for others’ well-being and my own wellness. She is always ready to be a teacher, sharing her knowledge and experiences, and is forever a student herself, learning and growing each day. She grasps the value of the past and understands her responsibility to share those lessons to build a better future.
I cannot explain how I was fortunate enough to “meet” this amazing person, let alone have the privilege of calling her one of my best friends. But anyone who knows Pam already knows that she is a blessing to everyone who knows her and countless others who have no idea that they are benefiting from all of the good that she does volunteering, teaching, and guiding future generations and all who are seeking direction from the guiding light that she radiates.
To this day, her birthday, we have never met or even spoken. But our hearts have found a way to share something far more memorable. Possibly the greatest lesson we have discovered together is that blessings happen every day to all of us. And amazingly wonderful people will come into your life if you simply open your heart and mind to the opportunity.
Please join me in wishing Pam the happiest of birthdays!

This is Pam, feeling quite humble and surprised, pleased and grateful, to have met Kathy Koewler as we did, quite serendipitously several years ago, through our mutual love of writing and love of words. As I’ve always said, the power of words is in the message they convey. All Kathy’s messages have been about love, love of life and love of learning, love of friendship and kinship, of family, faith and forging ahead when times are tough, and celebrating with those we love when times are good. Every morning I look forward to reading Kathy’s daily See-the-Good messages and today’s message is extra special for sure. Thank you, dear Kathy, for being so extra special yourself!!!!
