When one door closes, another door opens. But the door does not come looking for you. It is up to each of us to find the motivation and desire to seek out that new opportunity. Nothing is owed to us. We must earn it with hard work, dedication, and belief in the purpose of our journey.
I read an amazing and insightful message today, “Your value doesn’t decrease based on someone’s inability to see your worth.” And that powerful statement saved me from making a critical mistake. I was about to reduce the rate I was charging a customer by 80% because that person did not see the value in my time and my work. But those wise words saved me from giving in and allowing the person to believe that…
Family and friends will often make suggestions when you are facing a difficult life choice. But always follow your heart and the tiny voice that you hear whispering in your ear from deep within you. Only you know what will make you happy. We don’t always know what our purpose is, but someone knows the plan for each of us and that tiny voice we hear is often his voice guiding us along our journey.
The word cancer makes even the bravest among us shudder with a cold chill. I always thought of it as a heartless disease that did nothing but rob an entire family. It saps the strength, vitality, and life from its victim while tearing tiny chunks from each loved one’s heart. There is no solution, and we are forced to stand by and witness the havoc that it is wreaking on someone whom we love. It’s…
A few weeks ago, I quit a job that I had for nearly 13 years. I’m self-employed as a dog sitter and I had worked for a couple who live in the same residential community as me. Overall they are a very nice couple but I was becoming tired, physically and mentally. Being the typical human being that I am, I was in complete denial about just how much the job was affecting me. Sometimes it feels like the whole world is against you as you lay on the ground, ready to give up. You are certain this is your lowest point, and it cannot get any worse. When deciding how to act in a situation, I think that it is important to remember The Golden Rule… Be all of the things that you would hope to receive from others… RESPECTFUL KIND HONEST GENEROUS PATIENT UNDERSTANDING The list is long, and many times, we fail to think of all of the lessons that we learned over the course of our journey. For that reason, I would like to ask for your help to…
Realizing your dream is a lot like flying a kite. It can take a huge amount of effort to even get a kite to hover just above your hand. And it might come crashing back to the ground dozens of times before it gets airborne and is able to catch a good breeze and begin to climb on its own. But there is no better feeling in the world, than that moment when all of…
Everything we learn as a small child is achieved in tiny steps or increments. We roll over before we sit up, then we learn to stand, and finally, we begin to take our first wobbly steps. And over time we gain control of our balance and muscle movement to master the art of running. But somewhere in the process of growing into adulthood, we all forget that very first lesson of baby steps. We all…
A smile is universal. It knows no language barrier, nor does it hold a different meaning to those from other generations. It is free to give but is treasured when received. It can be used to set a positive tone for a conversation or bring a pleasant end to a dialog. It can even be used in place of dialog. A smile is the simplest of things to offer to another human being, as it…
