Christmas Eve 1968 From Vietnam

At the Foot of the Cross Looking Up Lord, I lay prostrate and crawl to the base of the cross. My tears soak the earth beneath my face as I edge closer to your holy cross. I embrace the foot of the cross and rise on my knees. My arms hold tightly around that ancient tree. I look upward and feel your holy spirit move within me.

Now, I feel your power of love and forgiveness. Now, I feel the power of your grace and power of will. I look up again and I feel you beckon me upward to the open arms of the cross of mercy and redemption.

The outreached arms of the cross beckon all those who are lost. Now, above the outstretched arms, I see the head of the cross. Knowing you are the creator and master of all time and space, the head of the cross points upwards to the universe of eternity and the peace of the heavens. Your holy cross shines as a beacon across the earth and stars.

Let us take up your cross and share its love and meaning to all mankind. Let us pursue the Prince of Peace. Oh Lord.. make My last thoughts on earth remember the cross of your salvation and redemption through your son, Jesus.

Lord, let us become one with your cross. Let us become one with your cross. Let us become one with your cross. Amen.

Thank you, Jim, for this amazing contribution. Jim explained that he just recently found this. It was written on the old and yellowed piece of paper from nearly 50 years ago and had remained folded and tucked away since that night.
