We all look in a mirror or see our own reflection in a window many times each day. But how often do we actually stop and really look at our own reflection? Some might say that this is a vain act and one that focuses on our outward physical appearance. But I am not talking about looking for those few new wrinkles or grey hairs, I am talking about looking into the eyes that are staring back at you. Those eyes hold a wealth of information.
We have all looked at someone and seen the look of defeat in their eyes. There is an unmistakable sadness as if they are welling up with sorrow and regrets that are about to become actual tears. We have also witnessed immense happiness that seems to dance within someone’s bright and shining eyes. A great deal of the value in a face to face meeting or discussion is revealed by someone’s eyes.
So what do you see in your own eyes as you study them in the mirror? Is there determination, desire, and energy? Or do you see confusion, sadness, and regret? Whatever you are seeing is the product of how you feel deep inside in your heart and soul. The good news is that as long as you can look at your own reflection, then you still have the opportunity to correct or change anything that you don’t like about what you are seeing.
It is never too late to change, put forth an effort, or strive to become a better person as long as you still have breath in your lungs and light in your eyes. Life is busy, and it can be easy to push thoughts of your own hopes, dreams, and happiness out of your conscious mind. But take the time to look yourself in the eye and decide what is missing from your life. You deserve the opportunity to find happiness, enjoy your life, and be the best person that you can be.
Lovely Post. Inspiring too.
