This one sentence is very powerful and very true!!!!! If I had more time, I’d explain more, but if you really want to give yourself a gift, get to know and love and have compassion for the REAL YOU through the words you write on paper with your own hand. Take pen and paper to a comfortable place where you can be alone for at least 20 minutes or so, take a few deep breaths, say aloud a simple intention such as, “What am I feeling and why am I feeling this way?” After your writing feels complete, close the book and put it away. Come back several days later and re-read what you wrote and chances are, you’ll learn something about yourself that will shift your emotions from negative to positive. Simply said, “What you can’t express, you can’t heal.” The best book I’ve read that documents the power of personal writing is James W. Pennebaker’s “Opening Up: The Healing Power of Expressing Emotions.”
