Unconditional love is a scarce and beautiful experience. Many say that we never learn the true meaning of this state of being until we find a soulmate or become a parent. But in reality, we should all learn to express this no strings attached adoration to ourselves before we try to share it with anyone else. You must love yourself to truly be ready to love another.
Acceptance is like unconditional love. You don’t get to pick and choose the parts of your life that you are willing to accept. You have to take it all and know that even the toughest parts have a purpose.
You are always in control of whom you choose to spend your time with. If those around you do not make you feel good about yourself, then leave. Being by yourself and understanding your own value if far better than being in the company of those who don’t appreciate you.
Every giant step in life, and many of the small ones, hold the potential for skinned knees, success, or a combination of the two. But until you are ready to accept the risk of a few scrapes and bruises, you will never be able to achieve your goals.
