A Lesson From A Storm

Relationships are much like the sea in that they are ever changing. There are periods of difficulty as well as times of calm smooth sailing. And those relationships that are truly a force of nature not only survive the rough seas but they grow stronger from them. The days that follow the storm are more beautiful and meaningful than any that had come before; much like that majestic sunrise after a night of brutal storms on a rough sea.

At first glance, the storms appear to be a test of commitment and dedication to the relationship and each other, but in fact, they are just a reminder. It is nature’s way of reminding us of what truly matters. All of the day to day comforts and stresses are removed from the equation, and we are forced to simply survive. It is in those moments that we rediscover the only necessity for survival, is that one special person. The person who loves you more than life itself. That person who would willingly give up his or her own life to preserve yours. And in return, you are equally willing to make that same sacrifice to save your partner. In those moments of extreme clarity and dedication, you come together and discover that you have the strength as a couple to conquer anything including a raging storm when you are lost in a sea of confusion.

  1. Lllloooovvvveeeellllyyyy. It’s too bad these relationships are rare. Why? Love is such a beautiful thing, when you give it and get it back, especially from the same person. Why is some people so hard to love? But I never stop loving, it makes life so much simpler for the loving heart.

    1. Thank you, Annelise- sometimes it’s the ones who are the hardest to love who need your love and encouragement the most! Keep putting it out there for those who need it and know that you have done your best. Nothing is more rewarding than witnessing the aha moment of a lost soul who has discovered that someone really does care…
