Be Careful What You Wish For…

Be careful what you wish for is a good bit of advice, but it should also include the clue that you must be smart enough to know when your wish is granted.

Sometimes the “wrapping” can conceal exactly what you wanted. But you must have faith and unwrap what you have, to discover your true gift.

  1. Good morning, agree 100% I go by 3 things in life
    1- God
    2-Health
    3-Family
God provides the wisdom to live a healthy life so I can care , protect, love, understand, respect and guide my family since Birth

  2. So true, so true. There have been more than one occasion when I didn’t think I got wanted. After slowing down a bit, I realized that I received even far more than I had imagined. The key is to slow down enough

  3. Excellent observation. On the other hand, we need to understand that some things we wish for would not be good for us. This morning I had the joy of watching a friend’s little girl open a gift from her grandparents on her 2nd birthday. She needed help to get the ribbon and wrapping off, then she easily opened the box. She picked out each item from the box. The barrettes and the box of puzzles she spent time with. The clothes she tossed aside without really looking at them. I think this is a picture of us sometimes. We do occasionally need some help to get the wrapping off. We pick out the fun stuff, but those things that are more for our good than our pleasure we tend to toss aside. So we need to not just unwrap the gift, but to understand what that true gift is and what it is for so we can put it to its proper use. Great post. Thanks for sharing.

  4. So true. Wisdom adds value to our lives allowing us to make the correct decisions that give us the good life we want. Life is a gift, for some. A burden for others, but it’s how we live it makes it a gift or a burden.

  5. All these responses to your wonderful post, Kathy, are wonderful, too! While reading them all, several “New Thought” mantras comes to mind—”Thoughts become things,” and :”The Law of Attraction.” What we think about is what we bring into our lives, so becoming aware of what we think about all day is paramount to truly living our dreams. Trusting in a Higher Power, we can accept what shows up as a divine gift (many times a wake-up call) that offers us yet another reminder that after the gift of life, the greatest gift our Creator and Sustainer of Life has given us is the gift of choice, as Viktor Frankl relates in “Man’s Search for Meaning.” Thanks to all of you for sharing your wisdom.
